The phone call cited as grounds for Ahmet Özer's arrest has emerged: Here is the full conversation!

CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was arrested as part of an investigation in which he was detained on allegations of "membership in the PKK/KCK terrorist organization."

It was learned that the investigation into Özer was initiated in 2023 after his name appeared in a document regarding Imralı meetings seized from a convict in Diyarbakır Prison, and that the file was first sent from Diyarbakır to Mersin, and then to Istanbul about three months ago following a decision of lack of jurisdiction by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's referral for arrest, it was stated that the "most important phone conversation showing Özer's connection to the terrorist organization" was his call to a person named Mehmet Kaya, whose three siblings were processed for "organizational membership," to offer condolences after his mother's passing. In the referral, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that in this conversation, which it presented as the "most important tape," the people Özer referred to when he told Kaya, whom he called to offer condolences after his mother's death, that "She was a very valuable mother, she raised valuable children like you," were "terrorist organization members who carried out actions against security forces."

According to the report in Hürriyet, the phone conversations Özer had with a person named Ahmet and with Mehmet Kaya have entered the investigation file.

Person named Ahmet: Yes, his mother died.

Özer: Can you send me his phone number?

Özer: Also, let's say there are institutions and such there in Van... When we come, who should we meet with, who is there and who isn't. If there are their presidents, their names, their phone numbers, is there a possibility for you to send them to me?

Özer: But close to...

Person named Ahmet: Which organization do you want?

Özer: Let's say for the party, places to ask when a poll or something is done tomorrow. They ask TAYDER for example, like them, okay.

They want me to be a candidate. That's why we need to meet with them. I mean, if a ballot box or something is set up, at least something should come out of it.

Özer: Does he have a position in the party?

When asked about this conversation, Özer replied, "I do not remember the individuals I am alleged to have spoken with, nor the individuals mentioned in the content of the alleged conversation."

The CHP, meanwhile, moved its meeting scheduled for November 1-2-3 to Istanbul to determine the current situation of Ahmet Özer and the roadmap to be followed.
