A study conducted by the Oxford University Wellbeing Research Centre has revealed the companies where employees are the happiest.

In the study, employees also ranked their expectations regarding high levels of happiness, purpose, satisfaction, and low stress. The ranking found that companies with higher employee well-being scores also have higher valuations, returns on assets, and profits.

According to the report, the companies on the list collectively outperform stock market indices, including the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite.

The sectors most represented on the list were retail and transportation. Analysts state that most of these workplaces offer job flexibility, noting that this policy allows employees to choose where, how, and when they work.

Analysts say that this stance by their companies “offers them the option to go to doctor's appointments or football matches, or to work from home if it is easier for them.”

At a time when major firms are changing their policies and forcing employees to come to the office for up to five days a week, the report suggests that companies avoiding stricter mandates are becoming more popular among recruiters.

The research also revealed that companies offering options have a much better reputation among their employees.
