They lit a fire so the cats wouldn't get cold, two houses turned to ash
In the Erbaa district of Tokat, two houses were rendered unusable due to a fire that started from a stove lit for cats.
According to reports, siblings A.U. and B.U., who live on Atatürk Street in the Gündoğdu neighborhood of Erbaa district, lit a stove in the house's outbuilding to keep the cats they were caring for from getting cold, and then went to the market.
A short time later, flames from the stove spread to the house. Fueled by the wind, the flames grew rapidly and spread to the adjacent house belonging to E.A.
Upon notification, Erbaa Municipality fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
As a result of the crews' approximately one-hour effort, the fire was brought under control and extinguished before it could spread to other nearby houses.
B.U. watched the rescue of the cats with tears in her eyes and did not let go of those that were saved.
While the two houses were rendered unusable due to the fire, an investigation into the incident has been launched.
