Truck hits ramp, flying marble slabs crush minibus
In the Mut district of Mersin, marble slabs that flew from the trailer of a truck after it struck an emergency escape ramp under construction crushed a parked worker minibus. One worker lost their life in the accident, and 3 people, including 2 workers, were injured.
The accident occurred in the Burunköy area on the D-715 road between Mut and Karaman. According to the information received, the truck with license plate 42 AZN 478, driven by Y.G. and loaded with raw marble blocks, was traveling from the direction of Karaman toward Mut when it struck an escape ramp that is currently under construction.
In the accident, the stones on the truck were flung, crushing the workers' parked minibus.
Zafer Gezer (38), one of the workers inside the minibus, lost his life at the scene, while the truck driver Y.G. and workers B.Ç. and M.T.D. were injured.
Upon notification, health, gendarmerie, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.
The injured were taken to Mut State Hospital by ambulance. Following the investigation by the public prosecutor and gendarmerie teams, Gezer's body was taken to the Mut State Hospital morgue by a funeral vehicle.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
