Turf field brawl stirs up two towns

The incident, which occurred between the residents of Yazıhüyük in the Derinkuyu district ofNevşehir and the town of Kiledere inNiğde, has put theentire region on high alert.According to allegations, thedispute that erupted after the turf field match

involved Yazıhüyük MayorBirol Demirdelen and hisentourage. These allegations were met withgreat outrage in Kiledere. As theevents escalated, a crowd from Kiledere formed aconvoy of vehicles and attempted to enter Yazıhüyük.

However, gendarmerie teams did not allow theconvoy to enter the town to prevent thetension from escalating further.Security levels inYazıhüyük were raised to the highest level. 

While a large number ofgendarmerie and riot police were dispatched to the town,entry andexit roads were closed under

control.Gendarmerie teams established a widesecurity perimeter on the town's main roads, around the town square,in front of the municipal building, and in the area where MayorBirol Demirdelen's residence is located. Thesituation remains tense as authoritiescontinue to monitor thearea. 

Local officials have called for calm among the residents of bothtowns. Investigations into the initialaltercation are currentlyunderway.security measures were taken.

It was learned that authorities keptwatch throughout the night in the towns to prevent the incident from escalating further, and that the investigation is being conducted in acomprehensive manner.
