Twin sister of nursing student Esra, who was murdered by her boyfriend: 'I didn't let anyone see my sister'

After failing to hear from her twin sister, 22-year-old nursing student Ayşe Tokyaz, in Istanbul, Esra Tokyaz filed a missing person report for her sister.

Following an insistent search by Tokyaz, who had not heard from her sister for some time and suspected her sister's boyfriend, C.K., the young woman's lifeless body was found dismembered inside a suitcase. Her body was brought to her hometown of Reyhanlı, where she was laid to rest by her family. Meanwhile, it was learned that 7 people, including C.K., a former police officer, have been detained in connection with the young woman's death.

Stating that her sister had met the murder suspect 5 months ago under the promise of marriage, her twin sister Esra Tokyaz said, "Ayşe Tokyaz was my identical twin. We went from Hatay to Istanbul for university. We are final-year nursing students.

My sister and C.K. met 5 months ago with the promise of marriage. C.K. kidnapped my sister, and I realized this. When I saw bruises on my sister, I went the same day and called the police. Then C.K. called me via video chat. I kept asking him to tell me where my sister was, but he wouldn't tell me.

I told him to let my sister go and then do whatever he wanted. He had said he left my sister somewhere, and he left my sister's body somewhere. I went to the Forensic Medicine Institute, I was banging my head against the walls out of grief. Then, after a long time, I received my sister's body and brought it to Hatay," she said.

Expressing that her twin sister was in an unrecognizable state and that she did not let anyone see her body, Esra Tokyaz said, "I last saw my sister on Wednesday in Mecidiyeköy. I didn't see her after that, but I heard her voice. The day I heard her voice, I went to her. When I went to her, she had her belongings there. She told me to bring them to her, and I took her belongings. C.K. opened the door and said, 'Your sister is not here.' But my sister's shoes were in front of the door.

Ayşe wanted to be happy. C.K. made her feel that he loved and valued her very much. My sister told me that C.K. sent her photos of wedding dresses and rings, and that they talked about what name they would give their child if they had one. He started talking to my sister by deceiving her with promises of marriage. My sister fell for his sweet words. Today, the burial took place. I brought my sister to Hatay today.

I didn't let anyone see my sister; she was in a state that could not be looked at. Only I saw her in that state. I didn't want anyone to get close. I didn't even let my mother get close, and I just stood in front of them. I have to be strong right now; there is no one else but me. When I was at the forensic medicine office, I realized I couldn't handle things on my own, so I informed my family. They came to me. Together, we brought my sister and did what was necessary. Now, we are not feeling the pain of my sister's loss. We are seeking justice first. After that, we will grieve, and I want justice," she stated.
