Unlicensed driver hits police officers: 2 police injured
In Kahramanmaraş, a 17-year-old who took his father's car without permission and entered traffic hit the police teams attempting to stop him and fled. While 2 police officers were injured, the unlicensed driver was caught and taken into custody shortly after.
The incident occurred on Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Boulevard in the Erkenez neighborhood. According to allegations, police teams identified that the car with license plate 46 AIH 373 was weaving through traffic and attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver did not comply with the "stop" order and began to flee. A pursuit ensued.
During the pursuit, A.H. hit the motorcycle police teams and fled the scene. The 2 police officers on the motorcycle, which overturned due to the impact, were injured. Upon notification, medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured officers were taken to the hospital by ambulance after receiving initial treatment at the scene. It was learned that the health status of the officers is good.
The fleeing driver was caught and taken into custody in the Karaziyaret neighborhood. It was learned that in his initial statement, A.H. said he fled because he did not have a driver's license.
The unlicensed driver was issued a total administrative fine of 520 thousand liras for drifting, weaving through traffic, failing to comply with a stop order, and driving without a license.
On the other hand, it was also revealed that A.H.'s father had gone to the police station 3 days ago to report that his son had taken his vehicle without permission.
