Volkan Konak is laid to rest: Crowd surges, daughter faints

Artist Volkan Konak, one of the masters of Black Sea music and known as the "Son of the North," suffered a heart attack while performing on stage in the TRNC and passed away at the hospital where he was taken. The TRNC police announced that a detailed investigation into the incident has been launched.

Following the completion of the autopsy, Volkan Konak is being laid to rest at the Levent Hayrettin Paşa Mosque.

HIS WIFE'S CRIES BROKE HEARTS

The moments when Volkan Konak's wife of 35 years, Selma Konak, embraced her husband's coffin and cried out in grief were heartbreaking. Selma Konak wept, saying, "Volkan, how could you do this to me?" The artist's young daughter, Derin, was also overcome with tears at the ceremony.

HIS DAUGHTER FAINTED

Konak's eldest daughter, Şimal Konak, fainted when her father's coffin was brought to the mosque. Konak's mother-in-law and father-in-law were also seen overcome with tears at the ceremony.

TEARS FLOWED LIKE A RIVER

Actress Perihan Savaş, who attended the funeral, said through tears, "Our holiday had already been poisoned. And on top of that, we lost Volkan. I am very sad. He was a very good friend, a very good companion. My fellow countryman, my fellow townsman. I am truly very sad, children."

İMAMOĞLU SENT A WREATH

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested and suspended from office as part of an investigation into the İBB, sent a wreath to the funeral. In his post yesterday regarding Konak's passing, İmamoğlu had stated, "Receiving this painful news in prison is even more distressing. You always stood tall, never held back your words, and never lowered your voice. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my friend Volkan Konak; I wish God's mercy upon him and offer my condolences to his family and all his loved ones. Goodbye, my dear friend..."

HE WILL BE BURIED IN HIS HOMETOWN

Following the funeral prayer to be held at the Levent Hayrettin Paşa Mosque after the noon prayer, Volkan Konak's body will be buried in his hometown of Maçka, Trabzon.
