What happened to the Polat couple's assets, and how are they getting by? Their lawyer answers the burning questions

Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, a couple who frequently made headlines with their luxurious lifestyle and whose source of income was a subject of curiosity, were taken into custody on November 1.

The couple, who were under investigation for money laundering, tax evasion, and establishing a criminal organization, were arrested and sent to prison on November 4.

A prison sentence of up to 40 years had been requested for the couple Dilan and Engin Polat.

In the case that has dominated Turkey's agenda, first Dilan Polat and then her husband Engin Polat were released.

As the fate of their luxury homes and cars became a subject of curiosity, the Polat family's lawyer, Sevinç Horoz, explained the details one by one.

Sevinç Horoz, the lawyer for Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, answered questions from Hüseyin Altun on 'Aramızda Kalmasın'.

Sevinç Horoz responded to the question, "Do they own the house they live in? Will their cars and assets be taken back?":

"The houses are for their own use. There is a precautionary injunction, but it was issued to prevent the sale to third parties. They will continue to live in their homes."

There is incorrect information regarding the vehicles. The vehicles have not been turned into police cars. The vehicles are being kept in a parking lot under the authority of the TMSF. We have not made any request for their return. We will evaluate the situation during the judicial process.”

Regarding the remark, "How were your legal fees paid during this process? This has been a major topic of discussion," Horoz stated, "We received a portion of the expenses. We will re-evaluate once they have recovered their assets and returned to their active business lives."

HOW DOES THE POLAT FAMILY MAKE A LIVING?

Horoz responded to the question, "How is the Polat family making a living right now?" by saying, "They are getting by with the support of close relatives and friends."

Regarding the news that Dilan Polat's life will be made into a film, Horoz said the following:

"I am not aware of any offers that came before this process took place. It is not our priority right now. We will evaluate it after the judicial process is concluded."
