Ferdi Tayfur passed away on the evening of January 2 at the age of 79. Ferdi Tayfur, who closed his eyes to the world while receiving treatment at a hospital in Antalya, had been experiencing health problems for a long time.

Ferdi Tayfur, who was diabetic, experienced his first major health issue in 2011. After suffering a blood clot in a capillary vessel of his brainstem, Ferdi Tayfur began to lead a quieter life. The famous singer moved to Marmaris and preferred to stay out of the public eye.

In later years, Ferdi Tayfur began to suffer from kidney disease and was undergoing dialysis. In 2020, a kidney from his son was transplanted into Ferdi Tayfur.

Most recently, Ferdi Tayfur fell ill on December 15 and was first taken to a hospital in Muğla, then transferred to a hospital in Antalya at the request of his family. The legendary singer passed away at this hospital on January 2.

The following statement was included in the announcement made by the hospital:

“Our artist underwent surgery for sinus cleaning due to a previously developed fungal infection. Following the surgery, our artist's health condition was improving, but unfortunately, he was taken to intensive care yesterday afternoon due to rapidly progressing liver and kidney failure. Despite the intensive treatment and all the efforts of his doctors, our artist closed his eyes to the world at 19:38. We are deeply saddened to inform his fans that Ferdi Tayfur has left us due to liver and kidney failure.”
