Fenerbahçe players took to the pitch for their Europa League Round of 16 second-leg match against the Scottish team Rangers wearing black armbands. Similarly, the Rangers players also had black bands on their arms. The reason for this is a tragic incident that took place in Istanbul last week.

Christopher Potter, a Rangers fan who came to Istanbul to watch the match against Fenerbahçe last week, lost his life in a traffic accident.

In Beşiktaş, a car struck Christopher Potter as he was attempting to cross the street while the pedestrian signal was red. Subsequently, another car ran over the injured man. The 40-year-old Potter lost his life in the accident.

Wishing to commemorate Christopher Potter, the Rangers supporters in the stands unfurled a banner and began to applaud in the 40th minute of the match.

For this reason, players from both teams took to the pitch wearing black armbands.
