Woman's eyelid droops after Botox procedure

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 13, at a residential complex in the Sümer neighborhood of Zeytinburnu district. According to the allegations, İdil Keten, who was preparing for her wedding, went to the home of K.M.A., who introduced himself as a doctor, to have a Botox procedure. Keten, who had previously received lip fillers from the same person, noticed that her left eyelid began to droop 9 days after the Botox procedure. When she brought the issue to K.M.A.'s attention, she was told that it might be an infection. After visiting a hospital, Keten was informed that the drooping was caused by the Botox, that the substance had been injected into the wrong muscle, and that it would not resolve for up to 6 months. İdil Keten filed a complaint at a police station regarding the matter. Stating that her wedding is in 3 months, Keten requested that her grievance be addressed.

Speaking about the incident, İdil Keten said, "I had the Botox procedure on May 13. I had previously had filler procedures done there as well. I went back because I was satisfied, but unfortunately, after the Botox procedure, my eyelid ended up like this. I went to his home. He does not have a clinic or any place of work. He closed his workplace a year ago, and when I asked why, he did not say. I went to the house where he resides in Zeytinburnu to get the Botox. He performed the Botox. About 9 days after the procedure, I felt a heaviness in my eyelid and noticed it starting to droop. Afterward, unfortunately, it reached this state. It has been about 12 days since my eyelid started drooping, but unfortunately, it still has not improved. Of course, I am continuing my research to get treatment, but I can no longer trust anyone on this subject."

"I tried to reach the person. When I reached him, he responded in a ridiculous way, saying, 'Your eye must have caught an infection, or this condition combined with a flu infection. That is why it happened. I don't think it's from the Botox.' He provided this response while defending himself. There was no 'Come, let me help you. I'm sorry' or anything like that. He absolutely defended himself and claimed it was not from the Botox. I consulted with doctors and realized that it was indeed from the Botox."

"I have filed a criminal complaint against him. I hope he is tried in a short time. I hope he pays the price. He introduced himself as a doctor. He said he was a general practitioner in Russia, but that he told me he performed these procedures at home because he claimed he didn't need to study for two more years to practice legally in Turkey, as he already knew the job," she said.

Stating that she wants her grievance to be resolved, Keten said, "When I went to the hospital, they told me that the drooping was caused by the Botox, that the substance was injected into the wrong muscle, and that it would not resolve for up to 6 months. They said it would improve only when the effect of the Botox wears off. I filed a complaint against him. I hope the authorities do what is necessary. Please do not be deceived by such places and such people. I do not want this to happen to anyone else. The worst part is that I have a wedding in 3 months. Unfortunately, there is a possibility it might be canceled because of my face. Since I cannot attend it like this, I want my grievance to be resolved. Because, unfortunately, he caused us harm. We have suffered losses in every way," she said.
