Yağız's incredible transformation: He was 90 kilos at age 5, 40 kilos at age 11

11-year-old Yağız Bekte, the second child of Sedat (44) and Sevda Bekte (35) living in the Tekkeköy district of Samsun, gained weight rapidly from infancy due to a congenital leptin hormone deficiency.

Reaching 32 kilos when he was just 1 and a half years old, Yağız weighed 37 kilos at age 2 and 55 kilos at age 3. His weight rose to 90 kilos by age 5, and he had to be connected to a ventilator for a period due to his excess weight.

Yağız's life changed after he began a special treatment approved by the Ministry of Health, which yielded positive results.

Starting to lose weight regularly in 2022, Yağız dropped to 40 kilos at age 11, reaching the same height-to-weight index as his peers.

Experiencing the joy of going out and having fun with his friends for the first time, Yağız is enjoying participating in various activities, and while out having fun like his peers for the first time in his life, he does not miss the chance to ride the adrenaline-filled zip coaster.

"I couldn't walk because of my weight before"

Stating that he could not participate in activities like his peers because he could not walk due to his excess weight caused by his illness, 4th-grade student Yağız Bekte said, "I used to be very overweight. Now I am doing very well. I couldn't participate in any activities before.

I couldn't walk because I was very overweight. Now my weight is just fine. I couldn't do the activities my friends did before, but now I can. I am very happy about this," he said.

Expressing that Yağız reaching the same weight as his peers is a great source of happiness for both Yağız and themselves, his father Sedat Bekte said, "Yağız went through very difficult times. He was very overweight. He needed to receive special treatment to lose weight, and he is receiving his treatment.

He has now successfully lost weight. He has started participating in activities just like his peers. Yağız is about to turn 11. It is a beautiful feeling to see him like this. We couldn't go anywhere or travel before.

Yağız would always cry and get sad when he saw his friends. He would cry, asking, 'Why can't I go?' Now this has been a great gift for him. He can now play on all the courses. Yağız's treatment will continue for check-up purposes.

Yağız has been losing weight in a healthy way since 2022. His ministry-approved treatment is continuing well," he said.

It was learned that the treatment for Yağız Bekte, who continues his life under doctor supervision, will continue for the rest of his life.
