Young woman who gave her IBAN to her cousin sent to prison
In Adana, a young woman was sentenced to 3 years, 2 months, and 3 days in prison after 15 lawsuits were filed against her for providing her IBAN number to her cousin. Her mother, Türkan Budak, broke down in tears, saying, "It is very difficult to leave her in prison and come back."
Arzu Aydın, a 22-year-old tailor, was allegedly sentenced to 3 years, 2 months, and 3 days in prison as a result of lawsuits filed against her for providing her IBAN number to her cousin in 2023. It was learned that Aydın, who entered prison on October 28, 2025, had 14 separate case files and had received a 2-year, 2-month prison sentence in one case that is currently at the appellate stage. Her mother, Türkan Budak (44), who has a 50 percent physical disability due to muscular dystrophy, argued that her daughter is a victim.
"She gave her IBAN to her cousin and went to prison"
Mother Budak, who separated from her husband some time ago, claimed that her daughter was a victim of her own good intentions, stating, "My daughter trusted her cousin and gave her IBAN in 2023. A total of 15 lawsuits were filed in my daughter's name because of that IBAN. She received a 3-year, 2-month sentence in one case. They came and took her from the house. She stayed in Tarsus Closed Prison for 1 month. She is currently being held at Karataş Women's Prison. I am going through very difficult times. My youngest daughter has lupus, and I am a muscular dystrophy patient. We want this grievance to be resolved," she said.
"Do not let these young people be ruined"
Stating that her daughter also faces a 2-year, 2-month sentence in the appellate court, mother Budak said, "I hope that does not happen. If that happens too, I will not be able to bear it. Do not let these young people be ruined. Fraud was committed in my daughter's name. There are no major grievances. Even though those who suffered losses asked for high amounts, I sent them. I went into debt, but as long as my daughter is saved, it is enough," she said.
"Not being able to reach out to your child is the hardest thing"
Saying that she has difficulty walking, mother Budak broke down in tears, saying, "She was my hands and feet. My daughter even prepared my meals. I go to visit her every week so that she does not feel abandoned. I feel terrible when I see her in prison. It is very difficult to leave her behind, behind that door, and come back. Not being able to reach out to your child is the hardest thing. May God not let anyone experience the pain of losing a child. My daughter made a mistake out of ignorance at 19. This ignorance of hers has cost us all dearly."
