İsmail Saymaz: İmamoğlu will be summoned to testify within a week

An investigation has been launched into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu due to his remarks about Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek and his family during an event he attended.

It did not stop there, and social media posts by those reacting to the investigations opened against İmamoğlu also became the subject of an investigation.

In his column today, Saymaz reported that it is being said that Ekrem İmamoğlu, who faces accusations of "Threatening and targeting individuals tasked with counter-terrorism," will be invited to testify this week or within a week.

In his article published on halktv.com.tr, Saymaz used the following expressions regarding the subject:

"An investigation had been launched because he shared the video containing Özel's remarks against Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek.

This is primarily a message to Özel.

It is saying, 'If you didn't have immunity, we would have come for you too.'

Of course, it is an intimidation tactic against İmamoğlu.

Because Aydın is close to the IMM Mayor.

İmamoğlu received the message.

At that very hour, he was a speaker alongside Özel at a panel titled 'The Politicization of Law and the Judiciary.'

He criticized Akın.

Eighty minutes later, an investigation was launched.

The charge; threatening Akın and his family.

It is said that İmamoğlu will be invited to testify this week or within a week.

I do not know how aware the Chief Public Prosecutor is.

His special effort directed at the CHP has ensured the party's recovery and the postponement of internal conflicts. It has cleared up the confusion regarding who the presidential candidate will be.

It would not be wrong to say that Gürlek launched İmamoğlu's presidential candidacy campaign. If almost the entire CHP has reached a consensus on İmamoğlu, it is partly thanks to Gürlek.

If I were an AK Party member, I would be very angry at Gürlek.
