Natural gas explosion in Niğde: Many injured

According to the information obtained, a natural gas explosion occurred on the first floor of a 14-story building located in the central Selçuk neighborhood.

While numerous teams were dispatched to the region, it was learned according to initial information that there are injured people. The teams' work at the scene is ongoing.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF NİĞDE

Niğde Governor Nedim Akmeşe stated that 16 people were injured in the natural gas explosion that occurred in the 14-story building.

According to the information obtained, a natural gas explosion occurred on the first floor of a 14-story building in the central Selçuk neighborhood. While numerous teams were dispatched to the region, extensive damage occurred to the building and vehicles located in the vicinity.

Niğde Governor Nedim Akmeşe, who arrived at the scene to monitor the efforts, stated that 16 people were injured in the incident and that operations are continuing, saying, "Upon receiving the report of a natural gas explosion, our teams intervened quickly.

The electricity and natural gas lines of the building were completely cut off by our fire department, AFAD teams, and 112 emergency teams. Following that, our building was evacuated. Currently, our final checks are being carried out. According to the news we received from our Health Directorate, we have 16 injured, but thankfully none of them are in critical condition. They are currently under observation. I will go to the hospital shortly to assess the situation there on-site. I wish everyone a speedy recovery. Necessary investigations and research will be conducted," he stated.
