Young woman holds her parents hostage with a knife after an argument
In Çorum, a young woman held her parents hostage at home with a knife following an argument. The woman, who damaged furniture and broke windows, was persuaded to surrender after prolonged efforts by police teams.
The incident occurred on Mutlu 2nd Street in the Kale neighborhood. According to the information obtained, an argument broke out between 19-year-old C.Y. and her parents for reasons yet unknown. As the argument escalated into a fight, C.Y. held her parents hostage in the house with a knife.
Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Police teams arriving at the scene began efforts to persuade C.Y. Following the teams' efforts, C.Y. released her parents. After releasing her family, C.Y. locked herself in the house and was eventually persuaded by police teams to come out.
It was learned that C.Y., who damaged household items and broke a window during the incident, sustained cuts on her arm, while her mother sustained cuts on her hand. The injured were treated by medical teams at the scene. The parents, who reportedly had previously wanted to obtain a restraining order against their daughter, went to the police station to file a complaint.
The suspect, C.Y., was taken to the police station to have her statement taken. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
