Birth scandal at a private hospital in Ankara: Mother gives birth without a doctor

N.Ş., a 32-year-old living in Ankara, went to the private Koru Hospital, where she had previously made arrangements, at the 35th week of her pregnancy due to suspected labor. However, it is alleged that despite her calling for help for approximately an hour and a half once her labor pains began, no doctor intervened. During this time, an anesthesiologist working at another hospital, who happened to be present, intervened to save the lives of the mother and the baby. The baby was taken to intensive care after the birth and received treatment for a long period.

Lawyer Kadir Cem Temtek stated that the mother had been invited to the hospital due to suspected labor, saying, "Despite the mother repeatedly stating that labor had begun, she received no help for an hour and a half. An anesthesiologist who happened to be there intervened to save the lives of the mother and baby."

The family approached the hospital to express their grievances. However, Temtek noted that hospital officials argued that natural birth should proceed in this manner, adding, "The hospital attempted to collect the costs for the birth and intensive care. We have taken this matter to both judicial and administrative authorities."

Temtek stated that while the mother's physical health is good following the incident, both the mother and father have been psychologically affected. Pointing out that the hospital advertises that it has doctors on duty 24 hours a day, Temtek said, "However, we did not see these doctors at the moment of birth."

The press office of the private Koru Hospital announced that they would issue a statement regarding the allegations shortly.
