New era in MHRS: It has now become mandatory

The Ministry of Health has made a significant change to the Central Physician Appointment System (MHRS), aiming to make access to healthcare services more efficient. According to the new regulation, when citizens wish to book an appointment with a specialist doctor, they will first be directed to their family physician.

REFERRAL PROCESS TO FAMILY PHYSICIAN

With this practice, which came into effect on July 25, 2025, those who wish to book an appointment via MHRS will encounter a "referral to family physician screen." Through this screen, citizens will be directed to their family physicians, and their health issues will be addressed there first. If the family physician decides that a specialist doctor's evaluation is necessary following the examination, they will be able to create a direct appointment with a specialist physician via MHRS.

ADVANTAGES OF THE NEW SYSTEM

This new practice aims to ensure the healthcare system is used more effectively and that resources are managed more efficiently. Prioritizing primary healthcare services will prevent unnecessary referrals to specialist physicians. Furthermore, this system will save time and resources, increasing the overall efficiency of healthcare services. Access to specialist physicians will be provided more quickly when necessary, and the capacity of family medicine services will be utilized more effectively.
