Authorities have announced that the number of cases detected in the city has surpassed 7,000. However, it was reported that the rate of the virus's spread has slowed down thanks to the measures taken.
In Foshan, a decrease in the number of cases has been observed over the last five days, particularly in the Shunde district. Officials stated that this decline is a result of infection control efforts. However, it was noted that adverse weather conditions across Guangdong have increased the mosquito population, and this situation continues to pose a danger.
The World Health Organization states that the chikungunya virus is transmitted through mosquito bites and causes fever and joint pain. Although the virus is rarely fatal, there are two approved vaccines for the treatment of patients. Authorities are warning the public to protect themselves from mosquito bites and are calling for necessary precautions to be taken.
