Research results published: Cancer cases in men are on the rise, deaths expected to increase by 93 percent

The scientific study was published in the American Cancer Society's journal, "Cancer". 

According to the findings, between 2022 and 2050, cancer cases in men will increase by 84 percent, and cancer-related deaths will rise by 93 percent. 

So, what are the reasons for this dramatic increase in cancer cases and deaths among men?

It is known that men have a 43 percent higher risk of developing cancer compared to women. This difference is attributed to the fact that men have higher exposure rates to risk factors that can lead to cancer than women. 

MEN ARE EXPOSED TO MORE CARCINOGENS

Men consume more tobacco and alcohol, and they are also exposed to more carcinogenic substances in the workplace. 

Furthermore, it is noted that men pay less attention to measures for the early diagnosis and detection of cancer compared to women. 

It is stated that lung cancer will remain the most common type of cancer by 2050. 

THE RISK OF DEVELOPING CANCER IS SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER FOR NON-SMOKERS COMPARED TO SMOKERS

Experts point out that the risk of developing cancer for non-smokers is significantly lower than for those who smoke. 

It is stated that one of the most important steps in the fight against cancer is early diagnosis. Experts are calling on men, especially those in older age groups, not to neglect necessary cancer tests and screenings.

Another study published this year by the World Health Organization had estimated that cancer cases worldwide would increase by 77 percent by 2050.

The WHO had predicted that this increase would be caused by factors such as an aging population, air pollution, the use of tobacco products and alcohol, and obesity.
