4 people brought to court in Zeytinburnu girls' dormitory scandal
In an investigation into serious allegations against workers staying at the Atatürk KYK Girls' Dormitory during the summer break, claims emerged that students' lockers were broken into, their belongings were rummaged through, and harassing messages were left behind. Of the 6 people detained following the incident, 4 have been referred to court with a request for arrest.
The scene students encountered upon returning to the dormitory after the break sparked a major backlash. It was revealed that workers staying at the dormitory in the Zeytinburnu and Cevizlibağ area for maintenance and repairs during the summer period had secretly opened locked lockers belonging to various students, rummaged through their personal belongings, and written harassing notes in some of the lockers.
Following the submission of complaints, the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports evaluated the matter seriously and referred the situation directly to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. With the initiation of an investigation into the allegations, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Security Branch conducted a simultaneous operation in Istanbul and Muğla, detaining 6 suspects.
After completing their procedures at the police station, the suspects were taken to the courthouse following medical checks. In the legal proceedings, 2 people were released, while it was decided that 4 suspects would be brought to court for arrest. The investigation into the incident is continuing meticulously.
