61 fugitive criminals brought to Turkey from seven different countries

A study carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Interpol-Europol Department and the Ministry of Justice has achieved a significant success regarding fugitives located abroad. Thanks to cooperation with the security forces of numerous countries, a total of 61 suspects, including those wanted for serious crimes, were brought to Turkey between March 15 and April 3, 2026.

Within the framework of the operations conducted, individuals wanted both internationally via red notices and at the national level were identified in different countries. While red notices were issued for 16 people, 45 others were on the national wanted list.

EXTRADITIONS FROM 7 COUNTRIES TOOK PLACE IN THE RECENT PERIOD

Looking at the distribution of the detained individuals by country, the highest number of extraditions took place from Georgia. Georgia handed over a total of 50 people to Turkey, eight of whom were subject to red notices. Four people wanted with red notices were brought from Germany, and a total of three people—two with red notices and one wanted at the national level—were brought from Greece. Additionally, one person wanted with a red notice each from Poland and Portugal, and one criminal wanted at the national level each from the United Arab Emirates and Bulgaria were handed over to Turkey.

With the successful completion of the extradition and deportation processes, those handed over included individuals wanted for many serious and various crimes such as membership in a terrorist organization, premeditated murder, intentional killing, sexual abuse of children, drug and stimulant trafficking, human smuggling, fraud, cybercrimes, armed threats, robbery, human trafficking, mediating prostitution, and forgery of official documents.
