Allowed scammers to use his account: Sentenced to 8 years and 4 months in prison

M.A., who lives in Kırklareli, explained that he experienced great regret after allowing his IBAN and bank card to be used at the direction of a friend about nine years ago. M.A. claimed that he was deceived by a friend when he was just 18 years old at the time. When his friend said that money would come from abroad and there would be no problems, M.A. allowed the use of his IBAN and card information.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation some time later thanks to the police who came to his home, M.A. learned that his bank account had been used in two separate fraud incidents. Following this development, M.A. was taken into custody, and although he was released after giving his statement, he faced a judicial process.

During the court process, M.A. received a total of 8 years and 4 months in prison, consisting of 4 years and 2 months for each of the two fraud cases, and expressed his grievance as follows:

"I didn't know it was such a crime. I had just turned 18. I let them use my IBAN and my card. Later, I learned that a search warrant had been issued for me. The police came to my house, I was taken into custody, and I gave a statement. I was released, but then the court process began. They defrauded two people using the same card. In court, I received separate sentences for both incidents."

Stating that the sentences he received completely changed his life and that he experienced great difficulties, M.A. expressed his regret:

"Now I have trouble even finding a job for minimum wage. No one will hire me. I received a 4-year and 2-month sentence for both crimes. The amount of money is small, but the penalty is heavy. I was encouraged to commit a crime. I am very regretful. I have also distanced myself from my family; they look at me differently. I still have difficulties with banks. I was going to start a job, and they asked me for a bank account. When I went to open an account, the bank could not open one for me. Because of this, I couldn't start the job either."

Finally, calling out to everyone so that others do not fall into the same trap, M.A. warned young people and all segments of society to be careful against such risks:

"They should not trust anyone, they should not be deceived. I am very regretful. Great obstacles appear before you. This will come up throughout my life. Regret is of no use in the end, but I have been burned, let no one else be burned."
