Another arrest warrant issued for Muhittin Böcek

Allegations that a public loss amounting to 399 million 507 thousand Turkish Lira was incurred through the Antalya Water and Wastewater Administration (ASAT) and Infrastructure Management and Consulting Trade Inc. (ALDAŞ), both subsidiaries of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, have led to the launch of a comprehensive investigation. As part of the investigation, it was ruled that a new arrest warrant be applied to Mayor Muhittin Böcek.

ALLEGATIONS OF IRREGULARITY FOLLOWING INSPECTIONS

As a result of audits conducted by a civil service inspector, it was determined that most of the domestic and international travel within the municipality was financed by ALDAŞ. During the examinations, it was revealed that some employees lacked authorization for overseas assignments and that some individuals who took flights had no connection to ALDAŞ or ASAT whatsoever. Allegations that public funds were indirectly embezzled in this manner have become the focal point of the investigation.

DETENTIONS AND ARRESTS CONTINUE

Following the completion of the investigation, 18 suspects were identified as part of an operation carried out on the morning of January 13. It was reported that among these, Muhittin Böcek is already in custody on charges of 'embezzlement' and 'corruption,' while former ALDAŞ General Manager K.B.K. and sales staff member N.E. are currently abroad. While one of the suspects is being kept in the hospital due to surgery, 14 others were taken into custody. Of those referred to the courthouse following police procedures, arrest warrants were issued for 5 individuals.
