Application process for HSK membership begins in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey
Applications for the election of a new member to the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) have begun to be accepted by the Office of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The application process will end on October 10.
The Office of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has initiated the application process for a member to be elected to the HSK, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution and the Law on the Council of Judges and Prosecutors. In this process, a candidate will be selected from among faculty members serving in law departments of higher education institutions and lawyers.
Prospective candidates must submit their applications to the Office of the Speaker of the TBMM either in person or by mail. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 PM on Friday, October 10.
Following the completion of the applications, the Office of the Speaker of the TBMM will forward these applications to the Joint Committee composed of members of the Constitutional and Justice Commissions. The Joint Committee will require a two-thirds majority of the total number of members to determine three individuals from among the candidates. If no result is achieved in the first round of voting, a three-fifths majority will be required in the second round.
Finally, the General Assembly of the TBMM will complete the election, observing the same majority rules.
