Beauty center fraud in Adana ends in tragedy

S.Ç., the owner of a beauty center with three branches in Adana, fled abroad on April 17 after defrauding many customers and suppliers with the promise of providing services below market value. Following this incident, employees who had not received their salaries for three months looted the items in the branches. In a message sent to his employees, S.Ç. claimed that he had not fled, that he would pay his debts one day, but that he was in a difficult situation due to the looting.

Fadıl Şahin, the husband of N.Ş., President of the International Beauty Experts Federation and one of the victims of the fraud, had mortgaged his house so that S.Ç. could take out a loan. Unable to pay his debts after S.Ç. fled, Şahin ended his life with a handgun under a tree in the Gürselpaşa neighborhood of the Seyhan district. It was learned that Şahin had sent a message to his wife before the incident saying, "I love you, please forgive me," and his body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
