Blow to criminal organization in Istanbul
Simultaneous operations were carried out in four provinces against a criminal organization operating in Istanbul and led by B.Y., who is currently abroad; 18 people have been detained.
The Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Branch teams launched an investigation into the activities of the criminal organization led by B.Y. as part of an inquiry conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It was determined that the organization committed various crimes using stolen vehicles and motorcycles.
These crimes include "deprivation of liberty," "attempted intentional homicide," "intentional injury," "threats," "endangering general safety," "motorcycle theft," and "possession and use of unlicensed firearms."
The Istanbul-based operation was carried out with simultaneous raids on a total of 37 addresses in İzmir, Manisa, and Bitlis.
As a result of the operation, 18 suspects were apprehended. During the searches, 5 unlicensed pistols, 1 stolen motorcycle, 19 cartridges, 1 shotgun, 3 magazines, and a quantity of narcotics were seized. While the investigation continues for 3 of those detained, 15 suspects have been referred to the courthouse.
