Criminal complaint filed against Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu
Fahri Şeref Çimen, a delegate from the Republican People's Party (CHP) extraordinary convention that was annulled by a court ruling, has filed a criminal complaint against Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, alleging "defamation" due to remarks made during a live broadcast.
In the Serik district of Antalya, Fahri Şeref Çimen, a delegate to the Republican People's Party (CHP) extraordinary convention—which was recently declared invalid by a court—and a former Serik District Chair, has taken the statements of former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to the judiciary. Referring to a program aired on Sözcü TV on June 19, Çimen filed a complaint with the Serik Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, asserting that Kılıçdaroğlu's remark that "the former delegates are dubious" constitutes defamation against himself and the delegates with whom he served.
In his petition, Çimen argued that Kılıçdaroğlu's comments regarding the extraordinary convention and the delegate process cast suspicion upon the delegates of the annulled convention.
Furthermore, Çimen contended that such statements severely damage personal rights, stating that the crime of "defamation" was committed under Article 125 of the Turkish Penal Code.
Claiming that Kılıçdaroğlu's statements during the live broadcast targeted not only his own honor but that of all the delegates, Fahri Şeref Çimen detailed his grounds in the petition. Çimen requested that the prosecutor's office initiate an investigation into Kılıçdaroğlu and file a public lawsuit.
The statement "the former delegates are dubious," used by Kılıçdaroğlu on Sözcü TV, was cited as the basis for the complaint.
