Deniz Göktaş referred to the courthouse: Reaction against Kılıçdaroğlu in the courtroom

Deniz Göktaş, who has been under investigation following his stand-up show titled 'Dead Sea' (Ölü Deniz), was detained yesterday during passport control at the airport. Göktaş was taken to the Vatan Police Headquarters, where he gave his statement and spent the night in custody. Today, he was referred to the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse to continue the legal process.

The artist's lawyer, Metin Aslan, announced that Göktaş would testify before the judge at 10:30. Göktaş faces charges of 'insulting religious values' and 'insulting the president'.

CROWD GATHERED AT THE COURTHOUSE FOR SUPPORT

Numerous unions, non-governmental organizations, political party representatives, and citizens gathered in front of the courthouse. While the support from citizens and institutional representatives was notable, the heavy police security measures in the area were also conspicuous. As the courthouse surroundings were placed under a police blockade, the gathered group chanted slogans in support of Göktaş.

On the other hand, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, accompanied by CHP Provincial Chair Gürsel Tekin and his Press Advisor Atakan Sönmez, entered the courthouse through the protocol entrance. Journalists were kept behind police barriers.

"OUT" SLOGANS IN THE COURTHOUSE CORRIDORS

Tensions rose suddenly inside the courthouse building as Kılıçdaroğlu and his delegation entered. Some citizens waiting in the courthouse corridors reacted sharply to Kılıçdaroğlu's support visit for Deniz Göktaş.

The group turned toward the area where Kılıçdaroğlu and his companions were located and chanted "Out." While the protest moments inside the courthouse drew attention, it was learned that the legal process for Deniz Göktaş is ongoing.
