The Ministry of Justice has sent a new circular to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices of 81 provinces with the aim of preventing illegal betting and virtual gambling crimes. With the Ministry's new initiative, more effective cooperation between chief prosecutor's offices and law enforcement agencies in combating these crimes is targeted.

In accordance with the official document sent on February 16 by the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs to all high criminal court chief prosecutor's offices on behalf of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, who recently took office, and marked as "Urgent," the implementation has been initiated within the scope of the "Action Plan for Combating Illegal Betting, Games of Chance, and Gambling in the Virtual Environment" announced by the Presidency on October 31, 2025.

With the directive covering a total of 171 high criminal court centers, the goal is to make investigations into illegal betting and gambling crimes more efficient, to identify and resolve practical difficulties, and to improve communication between different institutions. In this direction, periodic meetings will be held at least every six months within each high criminal court center, involving prosecutors specialized in cybercrimes, together with police and gendarmerie units. It is requested that the first meeting be held within one month.

In the relevant meetings, the examination of digital materials, the functioning of evidence collection processes, the seizure of assets and the implementation of various measures, the evaluation of appellate and supreme court decisions, and information sharing between institutions will be among the important agenda items. Detailed reports of the decisions taken and findings will be sent to the Ministry.
