Following the release of Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney, one of the individuals being tried while in custody in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) case, CHP Party Spokesperson Müslim Sarı made a statement via his social media account. Sarı conveyed his messages of support to Güney as well as the other individuals released by the court's decision.
Stating in his message, "I convey my best wishes to our Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney, who has been released," Müslim Sarı noted that the process would be monitored carefully, adding, "We will closely follow the legal struggle from here on out."
Sarı also expressed their belief that justice will eventually be served, making the following direct statement:
"We maintain our belief that justice will eventually be served. As the Republican People's Party, we once again remind that, in line with the universal principles of law, trial without detention should be the rule and detention the exception; and that guaranteeing the right to a fair trial and effective defense for everyone is an indispensable requirement of a state of law."
WHAT HAPPENED?
It was learned that along with İnan Güney, who was being tried while in custody within the framework of the IMM case, former Medya A.Ş. employee Ceyda Kıryak, IMM Public Relations Branch Manager Serap Karay, Metin Bal, Mehmet Karataş, and Seyfullah Demirel were also released by court order.
