Former Nilüfer Mayor Turgay Erdem, who was taken into custody as part of an investigation conducted in Bursa, has been hospitalized due to health issues.
As part of an investigation launched by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into charges of 'establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes,' 'bribery,' and 'laundering assets derived from crime,' an operation was carried out across three provinces, centered in Bursa.
During the operation conducted by teams from the Provincial Security Directorate's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch, 21 people were taken into custody, including former Nilüfer Mayor Turgay Erdem and his wife, Zeynep Terzioğlu Erdem.
During the operation, searches were conducted at 24 homes, 8 company addresses, and in 12 vehicles belonging to the suspects. It was determined that two suspects were abroad.
Turgay Erdem, who is in custody, stated that he fell ill yesterday evening and was therefore taken to Bursa City Hospital. Erdem, who was brought to the hospital around 21:00, was discharged at midnight following the necessary examinations. The processing of Erdem and the other suspects at the police station is ongoing.
