Suspicion of negligence in Ferdi Zeyrek's death: Statement from family lawyer

The investigation launched following the death of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who lost his life in the hospital where he was receiving treatment after being electrocuted at his residence in Manisa on June 6, continues.

While examinations regarding the incident that caused Zeyrek's death are ongoing, Necibe Karaoğlanlar Hasgör, the lawyer for the Zeyrek family, issued a written statement.

Regarding the investigation launched after Zeyrek's death, Hasgör said, "Initial findings in this tragic incident give the impression that the electrical leakage stemmed from the non-compliance of the materials and installation in the system with scientific and technical rules. This situation raises the suspicion that the tragic incident may have been an accident caused by the negligence of a person or persons."

Drawing attention to the possibility of "negligence" in the incident, Hasgör used the following expressions:

"We are in unspeakable pain due to the sudden death of our Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mr. Ferdi Zeyrek. He had previously shared with the public on various occasions that he had been threatened due to his duties. However, initial findings in the tragic incident that resulted in his death give the impression that the electrical leakage stemmed from the non-compliance of the materials and installation in the system with scientific and technical rules.

This situation raises the suspicion that the tragic incident may have been an accident caused by the negligence of a person or persons. Should any findings contrary to this situation emerge during the course of the investigation, new developments will be shared with the public by us."
