He killed Eros the cat: The trial of the killer is being held today

The day of judgment has arrived in the case of Eros, a cat who was born and raised in a residential complex in Başakşehir, Istanbul, and was tortured to death by İbrahim Keloğlan, who lived in the same complex. The second hearing of the case will be held today at the Küçükçekmece Courthouse.

In the incident that took place on January 1 in the elevator of a building in Başakşehir, Istanbul, the cat, which was kicked repeatedly by the defendant İbrahim Keloğlan, died after 6 minutes of torture.

Keloğlan was arrested on January 4 after the footage emerged and appeared before a judge on February 8. The court's decision to release Keloğlan had been appealed. Keloğlan's retrial is beginning at the Küçükçekmece Courthouse.

Hundreds of citizens demanding justice for Eros have arrived at the courthouse. Citizens gathered in the courtroom are chanting "Arrest the killer İbrahim." Some people who wanted to enter the hall were seen forcing the courtroom door. Due to the high level of interest in the case, the hearing was moved to a larger courtroom.

It was learned that Keloğlan arrived at the courthouse by helicopter.

Following the crowd's reaction to the murder suspect, the court panel announced that no one other than lawyers would be allowed into the courtroom.

According to the posts made by lawyer İlke Acar during the hearing, Keloğlan said the following in his defense:

"I am not a crime machine. I did it in a moment of anger. After the hearing on February 8, I went to villages to distribute cat food and made donations to shelters; it felt like therapy to me. Those who spread my footage incited the public to hatred and hostility. I am not that kind of person," he said.
