July 15 investigation into two CHP municipal council members
Two CHP members of the Bahçelievler Municipal Council are under investigation by the prosecutor's office due to alleged remarks they made regarding the July 15 coup attempt.
It has been reported that a judicial process has been initiated against CHP Municipal Council 1st Deputy Speaker Nazife Aktaş and council member Gencay Özkan, whose remarks regarding the coup attempt during the "July 15 Martyrs Commemoration Program" held at the Bahçelievler Municipal Council became a subject of public debate.
According to allegations, the use of the term "theater" in reference to the July 15 coup attempt during the program sparked reactions. It was stated that the investigation launched following these remarks, which caused public sensitivity, is being conducted ex officio.
In a statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was said, "An ex officio investigation has been initiated for the crime of 'Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility' against CHP Municipal Council 1st Deputy Speaker Nazife Aktaş and Council Member Gencay Özkan, who are alleged to have used the term 'theater' regarding the July 15 martyrs and the coup attempt at the Bahçelievler Municipal Council, and instructions have been given to law enforcement to take the statements of the suspects."
