Libyan delegation in Turkey for plane crash investigation

The investigation into the crash of a plane carrying a Libyan military delegation near the Haymana district of Ankara on December 23, 2025, is ongoing. In this context, experts from the Libyan Criminal Investigation Department and the Ministry of Transport have arrived in Turkey to closely follow the investigation.

The delegation, led by Major General Mahmut Aşur, head of the Libyan Criminal Investigation Department, visited the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and was briefed on the current status of the investigation. During the meetings, the determination of both Turkey and Libya to work together and share information regarding the investigation into the accident was emphasized.

Additionally, the Libyan Ministry of Transport has sent another delegation consisting of civil aviation experts to Turkey to examine the circumstances of the accident. The Libyan Government of National Unity announced that the expert team would investigate the causes of the crash and prepare a detailed report.

Following the accident, it was announced that Libyan Chief of General Staff Mohamed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, along with a 5-person military delegation and the crew, had lost their lives. Libya had sent a delegation to Turkey immediately after the accident to closely monitor the process.
