Ministry issues statement regarding the suspicious death of Rojin Kabaiş

The judicial investigation into the death of university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose lifeless body was found 18 days after she went missing in Van in 2024, has seen a significant development. Following the decision of the Van Bar Association, which had been providing voluntary legal support to the Kabaiş family, to withdraw from the case, eyes have turned to how the process will proceed.

Following the Bar's withdrawal, the Ministry of Family and Social Services issued a written statement emphasizing that the judicial process has been closely monitored since the very first moment of the incident. The Ministry's statement indicated that if a lawsuit is filed at the end of the investigation, the institution's lawyers will join the case and provide legal support to the family. The statement included the expression, "The Ministry will continue its legal support by standing with the family during the court process if a lawsuit is filed."

The reason for the Van Bar Association's withdrawal from the file was explained as the difficulty in communicating with the father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, and the psychological pressure on the family. In the public announcement made by the Bar, it was stated that the communication difficulties experienced with the family as the case follow-up team hindered healthy coordination in the ongoing search for justice. Furthermore, it was noted that the deep trauma experienced by the family made the attorney-client relationship difficult. Therefore, it was stated that the decision to withdraw from the case was taken to ensure that no loss of rights occurs and that the process continues in a healthy manner.

The Van Bar Association also announced that their withdrawal from the file does not mean they have given up on the search for justice; they will continue to monitor the process in the public eye.
