Muhittin Böcek taken back to prison from hospital
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek has been sent back to prison after being hospitalized due to health issues.
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek was rushed to the hospital last night after his health condition deteriorated. His lawyers stated that the 63-year-old Böcek has several chronic conditions and is required to take 22 different medications daily.
It was stated that Böcek, who remained in intensive care for a long time during the Covid-19 pandemic, suffered permanent damage to his body, making his health condition high-risk. Böcek has been in custody since July 5 and was previously hospitalized after falling ill in prison on November 26.
His lawyers requested that the detention measure be lifted or that the trial continue under judicial control conditions, taking his health status into account. However, Böcek, who was treated at Antalya City Hospital, was discharged and sent back to prison.
It was learned that Böcek suffers from various health issues, including sleep apnea, which worsens particularly at night. In previous statements made via social media, he had mentioned suffering from diabetes, heart conditions, high blood pressure, prostate issues, elevated kidney values, and lung problems.
