New team established for the Gülistan Doku case! Evidence to be re-examined

The case of Munzur University student Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli on January 5, 2020, has returned to the agenda with new developments. With the start of Chief Public Prosecutor Ebru Cansu's tenure, the file has been taken up again, and a special team has begun to examine the evidence.

Gülistan Doku could not be reached after leaving the dormitory where she was staying on the day she disappeared. Her family filed a missing person report the following day. Although Doku was seen boarding a minibus on security cameras, it could not be determined where she got off.

The last location where her mobile phone emitted a signal was determined to be the Sarı Saltuk Viaduct at the Uzunçayır Dam Lake.

SEARCH EFFORTS AND INVESTIGATION

Under the coordination of the then-governor Tuncay Sonel, large-scale search efforts were initiated. However, despite all the efforts of a 542-person team, no trace of Doku was found, and the searches were concluded.

Within the scope of the investigation, Zeinal A., the last person Doku met before she disappeared, was detained in Antalya approximately 2 years later. After his statement, Zeinal A. was released under judicial control and was issued a travel ban.

Zeinal A.'s father, E.Y., was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for disclosing personal information regarding Gülistan Doku on social media. Additionally, other social media posts by E.Y. that led to his dismissal from the police force were also identified.

RE-EXAMINATION PROCESS

Chief Public Prosecutor Ebru Cansu, who was appointed to Tunceli by the decree of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors, took up the Gülistan Doku file as a priority as soon as she took office.

The special team established under the instruction of Chief Prosecutor Cansu has begun to re-examine the evidence in the file.

During this process, the focus is on details that may have been overlooked previously, and the aim is to deepen the investigation.
