Open visitation permission for inmates during Eid al-Adha

The Ministry of Justice will provide the opportunity for open visitations in prisons between June 9-15 for Eid al-Adha. Visits will be conducted within timeframes determined based on the status of the inmates.

It has been announced that open visitations will be held in prisons between June 9-15 for Eid al-Adha.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM OPEN VISITATION?

According to the statement made by the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses, open visitations will be carried out between 09:00 and 17:00, with the duration for adult and young convicts, those convicted but not yet sentenced, and detainees being no less than half an hour and no more than one and a half hours, and for child convicts, those convicted but not yet sentenced, and detainees being no less than one hour and no more than three hours.

Groups will be formed by the day of the visit, and the visitation days and times for each group will be communicated to the convicts and detainees so they can inform their families. Additionally, the prepared schedule will be posted in wards and in appropriate places visible to visitors.

WHO CANNOT BENEFIT FROM OPEN VISITATION?

Convicts and detainees who have received final disciplinary penalties of deprivation of visitor acceptance and solitary confinement, and whose sentences are currently being executed, will not be able to benefit from open visitation.

MINISTER ALSO ANNOUNCED

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated the following on his social media account regarding the matter: "As the Ministry of Justice, we will allow convicts and detainees in closed penal institutions to conduct their visits with relatives who have visitation rights as open visits during Eid al-Adha. I hope the decision we have made will be beneficial."
