Operations against illegal e-cigarettes in Istanbul continue unabated
In operations conducted in Istanbul this year, 730 thousand 500 illegal e-cigarettes and related materials were seized, and 586 people were detained.
The Istanbul Police Department continues its operations against the illegal e-cigarette trade. The Anti-Smuggling Branch, in cooperation with 39 district police departments, has been conducting raids on various businesses selling e-cigarettes and related products since January 2025.
Within this scope, a total of 730 thousand 500 e-cigarettes, along with their liquids, components, and other materials, were seized in 396 operations carried out in places such as kiosks, markets, grocery stores, and tobacco shops. As a result of the operations, 586 people were detained, and judicial proceedings have been initiated against them.
Authorities stated that efforts to combat smuggling will continue with determination.
