Perpetrators remain at large for 3181 days! Fenerbahçe's team bus was shot at: New details have emerged
On April 4, 2015, after the match against Çaykur Rizespor, the Fenerbahçe delegation was subjected to an armed attack by an unidentified person or persons on the Araklı road around 10:15 PM while traveling to Trabzon Airport after leaving the stadium. While the bus driver was injured in the incident, the perpetrators have not been found for 3181 days. Most recently, Sözcü columnist Aytunç Erkin shared new details regarding the incident.
The Fenerbahçe delegation was subjected to an armed attack on their way back following the Çaykur Rizespor match played on April 4, 2015.
Sözcü columnist Aytunç Erkin shared the details of the application made by Fenerbahçe's lawyer, İrfan Coşkun, to the Ministry of Justice regarding the investigation into the shooting of the team bus.
The Süper Lig match played against Çaykur Rizespor on April 4, 2015, ended 5-1 in favor of Fenerbahçe, and the bus carrying the yellow-navy team was attacked while heading toward Trabzon Airport. During the process, two people were detained but were later released. In the investigation conducted by the Sürmene Chief Public Prosecutor's Office (file number 2016/493), it was decided on August 4, 2020, that there was no room for further prosecution. Following this, the Fenerbahçe Club took action and applied to the Trabzon Criminal Court of Peace to have the 'decision overturned'.
According to what Aytunç Erkin reported, the application in question was also rejected by the Criminal Court of Peace on March 24, 2021. Fenerbahçe's lawyer, İrfan Coşkun, then applied to the Ministry of Justice.
Erkin shared the details in the continuation of his article as follows:
“Why? Let's read from the petition: ‘The court decision requested to be overturned: The decision of the Trabzon 1st Criminal Court of Peace dated March 24, 2021, file number 2020/2064 D. İş, rejecting the objection to the decision of non-prosecution.’
There are striking details in the petition submitted by Fenerbahçe; ultimately, the club defines the crime of the five suspects regarding the armed attack as follows: ‘Attempted intentional homicide of more than one person, property damage.’
So, what is in the petition submitted to the Ministry of Justice? Which contradictions were pointed out?
DOES NOT MATCH HTS RECORDS
Let's read from the petition:
‘When the statement of suspect E.A. is examined alongside the HTS Examination, Detection, and Evaluation Report prepared on the same day; many of the records in the HTS report do not match the statements of this suspect. The suspect's statements regarding what time he was where are completely incompatible with the HTS records, and although the route, location, and times of the attacked team bus are consistent, these contradictions have not been resolved, and the suspect has not been re-questioned.’
‘None of the statements of the individuals whom suspect E.A. claimed and stated he spoke with on the day of the incident were included in the file scope.’
Now, at this point, let's reach into the investigation file of the Sürmene Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding suspect E.A., who is at the 'center of the bus shooting':
‘Within the scope of the research conducted, it was observed that a black vehicle frequently came and parked on the side of the road in the evenings on the route where the incident occurred... It was also seen that this vehicle was parked close to the scene at the moment the incident occurred... In the research conducted, it was determined that the user of the vehicle was suspect E.A... The suspect was there at the moment of the incident, shared pictures and videos showing the moment of the incident from his mobile phone, and the suspect was at the scene at the moment of the incident and shared videos and photos via Facebook regarding the moment of the incident...’
Now, let's look at the time zone titled 'Between 22.13-22.40 from Rize to Sürmene' from the relevant section of the petition that lawyer İrfan Coşkun submitted to the Ministry of Justice, where he explains his allegations that 'Suspect E.A.'s statements do not match the HTS records':
‘... Although the suspect stated, 'I set out from Rize province to come to Sürmene around 22.13. I did not stop at any district on the route along the way,' it is clear that he received a signal from the base stations in Of District, which is very close to the entrance of Sürmene, minutes before the incident occurred. The suspect stated that he had just set out from Rize at the minutes he received a signal from the base stations in Of, and the distance between Of and Rize is approximately 34 km, which is a 35-minute distance by car. The suspect's statements and the HTS records contradict each other seriously at the time the incident occurred.’ (...)”
Aytunç Erkin underlined that the bus was shot at 22:18 and that it was accepted in the investigation file that suspect E.A. was at the scene, asking, “However, E.A. said he set out from Rize five minutes before the moment of the attack. How did he arrive from Rize to Sürmene in five minutes?”
