President Erdoğan files lawsuit against Ali Mahir Başarır
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has filed a non-pecuniary damages lawsuit for 250 thousand Turkish Lira against CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır.
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has filed a lawsuit against CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, seeking 250 thousand Turkish Lira in non-pecuniary damages.
Erdoğan's lawyer, Hüseyin Aydın, stated in a press release regarding the matter that the lawsuit was filed at the Ankara Civil Court of First Instance due to remarks made by Başarır at the Bursa Provincial Congress on October 19.
Aydın further stated that they have also filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "insulting the President."
