Prosecutor's office objects to Ergün Poyraz's release
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Aydın has filed an objection to the release of writer Ergün Poyraz under judicial control.
Writer Ergün Poyraz, who had shared a photo of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu's house on social media using the term "Haramzade" (illegitimate heir/corrupt person), was arrested on October 2 on charges of unlawfully obtaining personal data.
Poyraz was released under judicial control conditions during the hearing held at the Aydın 5th Criminal Court of First Instance on October 31.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REQUESTS RE-ARREST
The Aydın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office opposed Poyraz's release and filed an objection to the court's decision. In the petition of objection, the prosecutor's office stated that the defendant's defense had not yet been taken, and requested that the release decision be overturned and an arrest warrant be issued for Poyraz.
