Son of Mango founder released on bail
Jonathan Andiç, the son of Mango founder Isak Andic, who was detained as part of an investigation into his father's death, has been released on conditional bail after paying 1 million euros.
Jonathan Andiç, who was detained as a suspect in the death of his father, Isak Andic, which occurred in the Montserrat region north of Barcelona on December 14, 2024, was brought before a court following processing by the Catalan police. Andiç, who testified for approximately one hour at the Barcelona Martorell Investigation Court No. 5, which is conducting the inquiry, answered only the questions of his lawyer, Cristobal Martell.
The court ordered the seizure of Andiç's passport, imposed a travel ban, and required him to report to the court regularly every week. Following the payment of the 1 million euro bail, Andiç was released.
In a written statement, the family emphasized that Jonathan Andiç is innocent, stating that they are "convinced that there is absolutely no legitimate evidence against him, and that there will not be any."
Isak Andic, a businessman of Sephardic Jewish descent who lived in Barcelona for years and held both Turkish and Spanish citizenship, had immigrated to Spain at the age of 14. On December 14, 2024, Andic fell from a height of approximately 100 meters while hiking in the Montserrat mountainous area and lost his life at the scene. A judicial investigation had been ongoing for some time regarding his son, Jonathan, who was with him at the time. Jonathan Andiç, who denies the allegations, previously played an active role in Mango's senior management and has been serving on the board of directors since 2012.
Meanwhile, it was noted that Isak Andic was ranked as the fifth wealthiest businessperson in Spain in Forbes' 2024 rich list, with a fortune of 4.5 billion euros.
The trial of Jonathan Andiç, who has been released under judicial control and security measures as part of the investigation process, is ongoing.
