Statement from the 'Mutlak Butlan' administration following the Çankaya Municipality operation

With the operation that took place in the capital this morning, Çankaya Municipality, one of Ankara's largest districts, and Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner were targeted. A detention order was issued for Mayor Güner as part of the operation.

The first assessment regarding the matter came from the Republican People's Party (CHP). Party spokesperson Müslim Sarı, speaking on behalf of the "mutlak butlan" (absolute nullity) administration within the CHP, made a statement following the developments.

"THE RULE OF LAW MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS"

While stating that they would be closely following the process to ensure justice and the rule of law, Sarı specifically included the following expressions in his statement:

"The operation carried out against our Çankaya Municipality this morning has added a new one to the practices targeting Republican People's Party municipalities in recent times.

As a requirement of the principle of the rule of law, it is mandatory for judicial processes to be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, away from political debates and by observing the presumption of innocence.

We will continue to follow the process closely in order for the truth to emerge, for justice to be served completely, and for the rule of law to be protected."
