Support for Furkan Bölükbaşı from Mücahit Birinci: He reacted to those who remained silent

Social media influencer Furkan Bölükbaşı, who is associated with the AK Party, was arrested following an investigation launched into his social media posts targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. While the investigation initiated ex officio by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues, Bölükbaşı's referral to the Provincial Disciplinary Board of the Istanbul Provincial Presidency has effectively ended his ties with the party.

After being brought before the Criminal Court of Peace, Bölükbaşı was arrested and sent to prison.

A notable statement regarding the recent developments came from Mücahit Birinci. Birinci, who once served in the AK Party and later resigned, criticized his own circle for remaining silent in a post he shared on social media. In his post, Birinci stated:

"We have 'stalwart' resistors, don't we? Islamist journalists, writers, 'Sumud' advocates, those who burn with passion for human rights, those who appear on TV every day... A friend of ours is detained and arrested for a crime he did not commit, and indeed, given his nature, could never commit. Where is this 'stalwart' crowd? Can they make even a single objection?"

Birinci further added, "Even if they don't like the man who was arrested, can they not object to a Kemalist pile-on, can they not even raise a legal objection? Can they not even say, 'I hate Furkan, but this is not right, brother...'" and specifically questioned the silence of the community.

In the continuation of his remarks, Birinci argued that most people within the community are only concerned with protecting their own positions, reacting with the words: "So here is the diagnosis: Everyone is concerned with maintaining their 'position,' young people. The meager income they obtain due to their position is the motivation for most of them. They are in a 'let's not spoil our comfort' mode. For heaven's sake, don't like the guy, but at least raise an objection..."
