Ümit Özdağ announces he met with Ekrem İmamoğlu in Silivri: 'His morale is good' message

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ announced that while he was being held at Silivri Prison, he encountered CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan. In a post shared on social media, Özdağ stated that both mayors were in good spirits.

Özdağ included the following statements in his message:

''Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu has been arrested as a result of the application of 'enemy criminal law.' I learned from the prison guards that Mr. İmamoğlu was brought to the Silivri-Marmara Penal Execution Institution building, where I have been held hostage for 62 days.

While going to meet with my lawyer, I saw new beds and bedding sets in the corridors intended for the cells where Ekrem Bey and his 15 companions would be placed. A short while ago, we met in the lawyer's booth. He signed the notifications that came from the District Governorate. We greeted each other. His morale is good.

We also met with Şişli Mayor Mr. Resul Emrah Şahan. His morale was also good. Get well soon to the Mayors; yes, these days will surely pass and bright days will come.''

İMAMOĞLU TRANSFERRED TO SILIVRI PRISON

Ekrem İmamoğlu was arrested as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. With İmamoğlu being brought to Silivri Prison, it drew attention that he was in the same prison as Özdağ.

Özdağ reported that he encountered İmamoğlu and Şahan during his lawyer meeting. He stated that both mayors were in good condition in terms of morale.

At the end of his post, Özdağ conveyed a hopeful message, saying, “Get well soon to the Mayors; yes, these days will surely pass and bright days will come.”
