A 5 million 'love' trap
The vacation of Mehmet K., who met Emregül A. in Samsun and began a relationship with her, turned into a nightmare. According to the allegations, the man was shocked when his girlfriend said, 'The vehicle following us belongs to my men; you have to sign these promissory notes,' and out of fear, he signed promissory notes totaling 5 million 400 thousand liras. Following the victim's complaint, a lawsuit was filed against the female suspect, seeking up to 25 years in prison.
The romantic vacation of Mehmet K. (41), who thought he had found the love of his life in Samsun, ended in disappointment.
According to the report by Seda Nur Günaydın from Sabah newspaper, Mehmet K. went to Samsun for work and met Emregül A. (53) there. The couple soon began a romantic relationship, and after Mehmet K. returned to Istanbul, Emregül A. followed him to the city.
PROMISSORY NOTE SCHEME BY 'MAFIA' GIRLFRIEND
The couple spent some time in Istanbul and then rented a car to go on vacation to Bodrum. As their romantic getaway came to an end, Mehmet K. and Emregül A. set off to return to Istanbul on May 9, 2023, when the incident occurred.
It is alleged that Mehmet K. was stunned when Emregül A. said, "A car is following us; I came all this way with you, but you have to sign a promissory note for me. Those following us are my men; you have no choice."
FEAR-INDUCED SIGNATURE ON 5 MILLION NOTE
Shocked by this, Mehmet K. signed a 5 million lira promissory note out of fear at that moment and gave it to Emregül A. Later, as they continued their journey, when his girlfriend demanded another promissory note, Mehmet K. signed a second note for 400 thousand liras because he was afraid. Allegedly, after seeing a vehicle following them near the Osmangazi Bridge, the man became even more tense and, upon arriving in Istanbul, got out of the car near Ataşehir and fled.
TAXI CHASE REVEALS THE TRUTH
Driven by curiosity, Mehmet K. then got into a taxi and began to follow the vehicle Emregül A. was driving. However, after a while, Mehmet K. was devastated when he saw Emregül A. meeting up with the vehicle that had been following them. Realizing he had been deceived, the man rushed to the police station and filed a request for the recovery of his belongings left in the car and the promissory notes.
